CURRENT RULE

30 days visa-exempt

The revised scheme for Indian ordinary passports took effect on 15 September 2026. Ignore older 60-day screenshots. If you need longer, visa-exempt travellers may request an extension of up to 30 days at Thai Immigration; approval is discretionary, and the Immigration Bureau lists a Thai Baht (THB) 1,900 extension application fee.

Spot checks can happen, so do not rely only on a banking-app balance or credit-card limit if an officer asks you to demonstrate funds. Cash or equivalent foreign currency is the clearest practical preparation. Treat this as an immigration-readiness requirement, not your trip budget.

TDAC

Submit within 3 days

All non-Thai nationals must complete the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) before entry. Group submission supports up to 10 travellers. A new TDAC is needed for each entry.

Mandatory Proof of Funds: 20,000 THB Physical Cash Rule

Thai Immigration can conduct spot-checks under Thailand’s Immigration Act. Funds are not uploaded to the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC), so keep physical proof ready when you land.

• Minimum safe amount: 20,000 THB per person (or 40,000 THB per family).
• Accepted preparation: Physical Thai Baht or the equivalent in convertible foreign currency. If carrying INR, use current, undamaged notes and remember acceptance/conversion is ultimately subject to the officer’s assessment.
• Do not rely on digital balances: Banking-app screenshots, credit-card limits and zero-forex card/app balances such as Niyo or Scapia are not physical cash proof. Carry the required physical funds separately.

CONNECTING THROUGH BANGKOK?

BKK and DMK are different airports.

If your India flight lands at Suvarnabhumi (BKK) but the Phuket/Krabi flight leaves from Don Mueang (DMK), allow a generous transfer. The official BKK↔DMK shuttle is free for connecting passengers with proof of onward travel and ID; BKK currently lists service 05:00–24:00. Airport Rail Link is useful for Bangkok city, but changing rail lines with family luggage can be more tiring than it looks.

Backpack Stays take: Same-airport connection is simpler. If changing BKK↔DMK, do not book a tight connection just to save a small fare difference.
